Choral Society presents donation to ACCORD Hospice
Thomas Coats Choral Society was delighted to
present a cheque for £541.36 to ACCORD on Sunday 6th February 2011.
For several years now the choral society has donated the proceeds from the sale
of the Programmes at its annual concert to ACCORD and the total for 2010
exceeded previous years. The society works very hard to obtain advertising in
the programme to cover the costs of production and thus enable as much as possible to go to
ACCORD.
2010 marked the 30th
anniversary of Thomas Coats Memorial Choral Society, and we go forward into our
31st year with renewed energy following our celebration year and
very successful performance of Verdi Requiem. For this year’s concert on Sunday 20th March,
we’ll be going back to the work performed by the Society at its very first
concert in 1981 - Puccini’s Messa di Gloria along with music by Vaughan Williams and
Liszt. We will again be joined by excellent soloists and the symphony orchestra
of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music. Concert tickets are on sale now!
Choral Society Donation to Church Organ Fund
Thomas
Coats Choral Society was delighted to present a cheque for £615.11 to the Organ
Fund of Thomas Coats Memorial Church on Sunday 13 February 2011. The choral
society organised a very successful fund raising concert in October entitled “Songs
for an Autumn Evening”; this was a solo recital by international tenor Thomas
Walker. We are delighted to announce that Thomas will be one of the soloists at
our forthcoming concert.
2010 marked the 30th
anniversary of Thomas Coats Memorial Choral Society and the choir wished to do
something to mark its connection with Thomas Coats Memorial Church; whilst
there is no formal affiliation with the church the choir has been fortunate to
rehearse and perform in the Church every year. We go forward into our 31st year
with renewed energy following our celebration year and very successful performance
of Verdi Requiem. For this year’s concert on Sunday 20th March, we’ll be
going back to the work performed by the Society at its very first concert in
1981 - Puccini’s Messa di Gloria along with music by Vaughan Williams and
Liszt. We will again be joined by excellent soloists and the symphony orchestra
of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music. Concert tickets are on sale now!
